K-Semiconductor Belt Expansion.
South Korea’s Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy has announced an accelerated timeline for the Yongin Semiconductor Cluster. Aiming to be the world's largest chip-making hub, the government is fast-tracking $470 billion in private investment from giants like Samsung and SK Hynix. The focus for 2026 is the completion of the "Mini-Fab" facility, which will allow small-to-medium design firms to test their AI chip prototypes on-site, reducing the R&D cycle for local startups by nearly 40%.
