A 9 Trillon Won Bet on Robotics.

Hyundai Motor Group has finalized a massive 9 trillion won agreement with the Korean government to transform the Saemangeum area of Gunsan into a global Innovation Hub. This project is the centerpiece of Korea's transition into a specialized hardware leader. A primary $4 billion investment will establish a massive AI data center equipped with 50,000 high-performance GPUs. This facility will serve as the centralized brain for processing the vast datasets required for Level 4 and Level 5 autonomous driving and advanced robotics. About $277 million is earmarked for a dedicated robotics manufacturing cluster. This will not only house Hyundai’s in-house production but also act as a foundry for smaller suppliers looking to enter the robotics components sector. The project is projected to generate roughly 16 trillion won in economic ripple effects and create approximately 71,000 jobs, effectively revitalizing the North Jeolla region as a core engine of the national economy.
