300+ New Species Discovered.
The National Institute of Biological Resources announced a landmark scientific achievement today, adding over 300 species previously unknown to science to the national biological inventory. Among the highlights is the Beoteum Yangjikkot, a perennial herb with distinct yellow petals that is endemic only to the central regions of the Korean Peninsula. These discoveries are part of a massive domestic survey aimed at cataloging South Korea’s shifting biodiversity as local climates continue to warm.
