Water Bankruptcy Warnings.

The government has officially released 21.47 billion pesos for fuel subsidies and infrastructure projects to cushion the blow of surging global oil prices, which have breached $110 a barrel. While this provides immediate relief to drivers and the middle class, the DENR (Department of Environment and Natural Resources) issued a sobering warning today that the Philippines is facing "water bankruptcy." The agency is urging immediate investment in new water sources and infrastructure as the dry season is expected to begin by the end of this month.
