The security situation in the West Philippine Sea remains a focal point. Reports today confirmed that a Philippine Navy missile frigate was "scanned" by a Chinese fire control radar near Mischief Reef, leading to a diplomatic protest. This coincided with the departure of the USS Blue Ridge, the U.S. 7th Fleet flagship, from Manila following a five-day port visit. The visit was aimed at strengthening the military partnership ahead of the Balikatan 2026 exercises, even as the U.S. redirects some Marines to the Middle East.
