President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. declared today, March 20, 2026, a regular national holiday in observance of Eid'l Fitr (the Feast of Ramadan). This move, recommended by the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos, was intended to allow the entire nation to join the Muslim community in their festivities. However, a scheduling twist occurred as some moon sightings led to festivities being officially rescheduled for Saturday, March 21, in certain regions, causing a bit of a "long weekend" confusion for some travelers.
