Mandate For 20% Energy Storage In Renewable Projects.
In a major move to stabilize the national power grid, the Department of Energy (DOE) officially mandated a new requirement for large-scale renewable energy projects today. All new solar and wind projects with a capacity of 10 MW or more must now include an energy storage system (ESS) equivalent to at least 20% of the project's total capacity. The policy aims to address the inherent variability of renewable energy, ensuring that rapid supply fluctuations do not cause grid instability as the country increases its reliance on green power.
