The political divide in Manila has deepened as a group of lawyers filed a petition to halt the impeachment proceedings against Vice President Sara Duterte. The House Committee on Justice recently found two complaints against her to be sufficient in substance, sparking a heated debate over the legality of the process. While some lawmakers have criticized the Vice President for avoiding the hearings, her supporters argue the move is politically motivated. Simultaneously, the Ombudsman has indicated readiness to release the Vice President’s Statement of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth (SALN) to Congress as part of the ongoing probe.
