Philippine Telco Summit, the government unveiled the National Digital Connectivity Plan, a roadmap to treat internet access as a fundamental right and lifeline. The first three phases of the National Fiber Backbone project are now complete, connecting government agencies and providing free high-speed Wi-Fi to thousands of public locations. The Konektadong Pinoy Act has removed traditional barriers to entry for new internet service providers, fostering competition to lower costs for consumers. The telecommunications sector is now valued at over $6 billion, with a focus on extending 5G and satellite coverage to geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas.
