Shimokitazawa Bohemian Heart of West Tokyo

Shimokitazawa continues to dominate as Tokyo’s premier destination for vintage and indie culture. For March 2026, the neighborhood is leaning heavily into its reputation as a hub for both fashion and contemporary art. The DDD Art Sono / Nagi gallery is launching its highly anticipated Mirror, Mirror, Mirror exhibition by renowned photographer Mika Ninagawa this Friday, March 13. Known locally as Shimokita, the area is currently crowded with young locals browsing the maze-like alleys of vintage clothing stores and record shops.
