Sapporo Snow Festival Begins.
Amidst political and economic tension, Japan’s northern city of Sapporo has officially opened its world-famous Snow Festival (February 4–11), serving as a vital boost for regional tourism. Over 2 million visitors are projected to attend this year’s event in Odori Park, which features massive ice sculptures of anime characters and global landmarks. Despite heavy snowfall warnings disrupting some northern transport lines, the festival is a cornerstone of Hokkaido's economy, showcasing the region's resilience and its new quality winter tourism strategy.
