PM Takaichi Dissolves Parliament for Snap Election.

Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi has officially announced the dissolution of the House of Representatives, calling for a snap election likely to be held in early February. While Takaichi personally enjoys high approval ratings (around 64%), her party, the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), remains on shaky ground with much lower public support. She is framing the election as a mandate for her "responsible and proactive" fiscal policies and her assertive stance on national security, particularly regarding stability in the Taiwan Strait.
