Kokomo Murase Emerges.

In the Italian Alps, Japan’s Kokomo Murase captured the gold medal in the Women’s Snowboard Big Air final today. It was a poetic passing of the torch moment as Murase dethroned the legendary two-time defending champion Anna Gasser. The 21-year-old Murase became the only rider to land all three jumps cleanly, including a massive frontside 1440 that pushed her score to 179.00. Interestingly, while New Zealand took silver, South Korea’s 18-year-old Yu Seungeun claimed the bronze marking a breakout moment for the Korean team and adding a nice layer of competition to the region’s growing dominance in extreme sports.
