Japan Launches Flagship H3 Rocket in Milestone Success.

On the morning of February 7, 2026, the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) successfully launched its flagship H3 rocket from the Tanegashima Space Center. This third flight of the H3 carries the Advanced Land Observing Satellite-4 (ALOS-4), which is equipped with state-of-the-art radar technology designed to monitor disaster zones and track changes in infrastructure with high precision. This success is viewed as a critical step in establishing Japan’s independent access to space and securing a larger share of the global satellite launch market. JAXA officials noted that the H3 is intended to be more cost-effective and reliable than its predecessors, serving as a primary vehicle for both government missions and international commercial payloads over the next decade.
