Oʻahu Digs Out From Historic Kona Low Flooding.

Recent reports from NASA Earth Observatory and Honolulu Civil Beat detail the aftermath of back-to-back subtropical cyclones that struck in mid-March 2026. The storms triggered the worst flash flooding the state has seen in over 20 years, particularly devastating Oʻahu's North Shore. Thousands were left without power, and NASA satellite imagery shows massive sediment plumes turning coastal waters red-brown. Residents in Waialua and Haleʻiwa have expressed frustration, claiming emergency alerts were delayed by hours, forcing some to swim for their lives before official evacuation orders were issued. As of late March, The Salvation Army and other nonprofits have set up financial assistance sites across Oʻahu to help the hundreds of families displaced or impacted by mud and debris.
