Kona Storm Increases Storm The Land.
A powerful and long-lasting Kona storm has been pummeling the state this week, leading to widespread flooding, landslides, and school closures across all major islands. Parts of Maui have recorded over 23 inches of rain in 24 hours, while Honolulu has seen more than 10 inches. Governor Josh Green ordered the closure of all public schools, state offices, and University of Hawaii campuses on Friday. Paradoxically, while the coastlines flood, a winter storm warning is in effect for the summits of Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa, with over 20 inches of snow and 100 mph winds expected.
