Greek Doctor Joins ESA Astronaut Program.
In a historic milestone for the country’s space ambitions, Dr. Adrianos Golemis has been announced as the first Greek to join the European Space Agency’s (ESA) astronaut-training program. Dr. Golemis, who studied at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, has served as a flight surgeon for ESA, monitoring the health of astronauts during long-duration space missions. While currently in the training reserve, his selection paves the way for a future national research mission. The Greek government also announced the upcoming launch of six nanosatellites by the end of March to bolster domestic space technology.
