Export Freeze Hits Meat Industry.

A sudden export freeze has been imposed on the Greek meat industry following a confirmed outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) on the island of Lesbos. International trade partners, including the UK and several EU nations, have temporarily suspended imports of live ruminants, hay, and untreated animal by-products from the entire Greek territory to prevent the spread. This comes as a blow to the agricultural sector, which is already dealing with rising energy costs and delayed EU subsidies. Authorities are racing to contain the outbreak on Lesbos to prevent it from reaching the mainland.
