Foot-and-Mouth Disease Outbreak On Lesbos.
The Greek agricultural sector is on high alert following a confirmed outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease among cattle on the island of Lesbos. The UK and other trade partners have already suspended commercial imports of live ruminants and certain animal products from Greece to prevent the spread. This comes as a blow to the local economy, which has also been dealing with previous outbreaks of sheep and goat pox.
