Top Police Officials Arrested.

South Africa’s National Police Commissioner, Fannie Masemola, has been served with a warrant in a massive corruption scandal that has already seen 12 other senior officers arrested today. The arrests relate to a multi-million dollar contract for health and well-being services awarded to a company linked to an alleged crime boss, Vusimuzi Cat Matlala. This comes after months of live-broadcast parliamentary hearings that exposed deep ties between top brass and organized crime. President Cyril Ramaphosa, who previously suspended the police minister, has now deployed the army in certain regions to manage the high rates of violent crime the police have failed to curb.
