South Africa Disinvited From G7 Summit.
Tensions between South Africa and the United States have reached a new low, resulting in South Africa being excluded from the upcoming G7 summit in France. Reports indicate the U.S. pressured France to withdraw the invitation, allegedly threatening a boycott if President Cyril Ramaphosa attended. The fallout stems from several issues, including South Africa’s genocide case against Israel at the ICJ and high tariffs (30%) imposed by the Trump administration on South African exports. The South African presidency stated that while the snub is notable, their diplomatic relationship with the U.S. predates the Trump administration and will outlive the current White House term.
