Africa is increasingly becoming the center of a high-value commodity war. With the continent holding the world’s critical minerals (lithium, cobalt, and copper), global powers are racing for access. Recent reports highlight that African nations are pushing for mineral beneficiation the insistence that raw materials be processed locally rather than exported raw. While China remains a dominant infrastructure partner, the extension of the African Growth and Opportunity Act for three years, though new trade tariffs from Washington are forcing many African leaders to diversify their partnerships toward the Global South, particularly Brazil and India.
