Grand Inga Dam Recieves A Boost.

In the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the long-delayed Grand Inga Dam project has received a significant boost. If completed, it would be the world's largest hydroelectric power station. The French Development Agency and the World Bank signed new agreements to prepare the DRC for the Inga III phase. This includes a billion investment toward project preparation and vocational training for Congolese engineers. South Africa and Nigeria have both reaffirmed their intent to purchase large shares of the dam’s output, which would provide the financial backbone needed for the project's billion total cost. The project is being framed as a solution to energy poverty, with the goal of providing electricity to some of the people currently without power in sub-Saharan Africa.
