The Treat and Reduce Obesity Act of 2023 expands Medicare coverage to include obesity medications and broadens access to behavioral therapy. By allowing specialists, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants to provide counseling, it removes the current restriction that limits these services strictly to primary care settings.
