A new cultural conservation initiative was launched this month to protect the historical Tea Horse Road (Cha Ma Dao) stretching across Yunnan and Sichuan provinces into the Tibetan plateau. The project identifies 150 specific heritage sites, including ancient stone bridges and tea-processing villages, for architectural restoration. Beyond physical repairs, the initiative funds local educational programs to preserve the oral histories of the ethnic minority communities who managed these trade routes for centuries. This move aligns with a national shift toward "slow tourism" and the protection of rural biodiversity.
