High-Speed Rail Network Surpasses 50,000 Kilometers.

Reports from the China State Railway Group this month highlight a massive milestone in the nation’s infrastructure: the operational high-speed rail (HSR) mileage has officially surpassed 50,000 km (approx. 31,000 miles). During the recent 2026 Spring Festival travel rush, the network handled a record 538 million passengers. The efficiency was credited to the newest generation of Fuxing bullet trains and the expansion of the Xi’an–Yan’an and Guangzhou–Zhanjiang lines. The 12306 ticketing platform hit a new peak, selling over 23 million tickets in a single day, highlighting a shift toward a fully digital, high-capacity transport economy. The expansion is credited with a "tourism revolution" in previously hard-to-reach coastal and inland cities, which saw local hospitality revenues rise by nearly 15% year-over-year.
