Diplomatic Push and Regional Tensions.

President Xi Jinping has initiated a New Year Diplomacy blitz, meeting with several world leaders in Beijing, including South Korean President Lee Jae-myung and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney marking the first such visit from a Canadian leader in eight years. However, regional friction persists; Beijing recently issued a new travel warning for Japan following a diplomatic row over comments regarding Taiwan. Simultaneously, Taiwan has launched a new "firepower hub" in coordination with the U.S. to counter increasing military pressure from the mainland.
