China to Launch New Digital Yuan.

Starting January 1, 2026, the People's Bank of China will launch a "new generation" action plan to scale the operations and management of its digital yuan. This initiative seeks to modernize the financial system by integrating a comprehensive operational ecosystem and incentivizing adoption through interest payments on digital currency balances. By establishing an international operations center in Shanghai, China aims to transition from pilot programs to a mainstream payment method, allowing the central bank to regain data control from private tech giants and keep pace with the global shift toward digital assets.
