China Redesigns Digital Yuan.

In a major shift for its state-backed digital currency, the People's Bank of China has redesigned the e-CNY to allow interest payments to holders. This move effectively moves the currency away from being digital cash (which doesn't earn interest) and toward digital deposits. This change is intended to make the e-CNY more attractive to users and to prevent it from siphoning liquidity away from the traditional banking system.
