Protesters Criticize World Cup Impact in Mexico City.

In a recent demonstration, protesters in Mexico City blocked a major highway and turned it into a temporary soccer field to draw attention to social concerns tied to World Cup preparations.

Participants argued that government spending on the event is contributing to housing shortages and neglect of basic services such as water and transportation. Some protesters carried signs criticizing what they called a “World Cup of dispossession.”

While the protest caused temporary traffic disruptions, it ended peacefully. The demonstration highlights growing tensions between development projects and local community needs.
