Mexico Axes Brazil Meat Tariffs For 2026.
The Mexican government has eliminated tariffs on Brazilian beef and pork for 2026, establishing duty-free quotas of 70,000 and 51,000 tons respectively to stabilize food prices. While this measure follows the removal of meat from the PACIC anti-inflation plan, experts suggest the impact on consumer prices remains uncertain since Brazil's export volume to Mexico is relatively low. Additionally, analysts warn that such frequent, unilateral changes to trade rules reflect a growing disregard for global commerce standards established by the WTO.
