The Mexico City government, led by Clara Brugada, has launched the "Do Re Mi Fa Sol por Mi Escuela" program, which integrates music as a formal subject within regular school hours at 500 public schools. The initiative aims to transform the educational environment and prevent violence through art by providing over 15,000 instruments and free lessons to 150,000 students. While the program is currently a permanent fixture in primary and secondary schedules, it functions as an integrated educational program rather than a mandatory national curriculum requirement.
