Stockholm’s "Melodifestivalen" Fever.

The first weekend of March 2026 saw Stockholm transformed by the grand finale of Melodifestivalen, the nation's premier music competition and the selection process for Eurovision. Held at the Strawberry Arena (formerly Friends Arena) in Solna, the final drew over 50,000 live spectators and millions of television viewers, asserting its status as Sweden's biggest annual cultural event. Tourism officials reported that hotel occupancy in the capital hit 98% over the weekend, with domestic travelers flocking to the city for the "pop spectacle" that defines the Swedish spring. Beyond the music, Sweden is also preparing for Waffle Day (Våffeldagen) on March 25, a traditional celebration where the entire country indulges in heart-shaped waffles with jam and cream to mark the start of spring.
