The World’s First Comprehensive AI Basic Act.

South Korea has officially entered a new era of digital regulation this month as the AI Basic Act takes full effect. It is the first comprehensive law of its kind globally to move from enactment to full enforcement. The law introduces strict transparency requirements any content generated by AI, especially deepfakes, must be clearly labeled to prevent public misinformation. Companies are now legally required to inform users when a service or product utilizes generative AI. The Ministry of Science and ICT described the act as a move to build trust-based innovation, aiming to solidify South Korea's position as a top-three global AI power.
