Semiconductors Drive Record Export Growth.

Despite political shifts, South Korea's engine is roaring. Official data released today shows the country posted its highest-ever exports for the month of January, fueled almost entirely by the global AI boom. Semiconductor exports skyrocketed by 103% year-over-year, driven by massive demand for high-end memory chips used in AI servers and data centers. While the tech sector is booming, the government today launched a new 14 billion KRW Regional AI Transformation program. The goal is to close the AI gap by bringing advanced tech infrastructure to factory floors in regions like Daegu and Gyeongnam, outside the Seoul metropolitan area.
