National Ban On Plastic Labels.
As of early 2026, South Korea has officially moved to ban plastic labels on all bottled water. In their place, manufacturers are now using laser-etched QR codes on bottle caps or the bottles themselves to provide product information. The Ministry of Climate, Energy, and Environment estimates this shift will eliminate over 2,200 tonnes of plastic waste annually. Major brands like Jeju Samdasoo and Lotte Chilsung have already fully transitioned to these label-less designs.
