Busan’s "Smart Water" and Corporate Lure.

This week (March 18–20), Busan is hosting WATER KOREA 2026, the nation’s largest water industry expo, signaling the city's intent to become a global hub for climate-resilient technology. Over 200 companies are showcasing AI-driven "Smart Water" systems designed to prevent sinkholes and manage wastewater through digital twin technology. Simultaneously, the Busan Metropolitan Government has launched a "Business Visit" program. Officials are traveling to major IT and battery exhibitions in Seoul to convince tech firms to relocate their headquarters to the south. The city aims to attract 60 billion won in new corporate investment during the expo alone, leveraging its "Smart City" status to challenge Seoul's economic dominance.
