Tech-Driven Irrigation to Combat Climate Shifts.

In a bid to modernize the nation's food production, the government has launched an AI-based Command Center for the National Irrigation Administration (NIA). The system uses satellite-fed telemetry to monitor dam levels and weather conditions in real-time. This allows for "precise and responsive" water management, helping farmers predict flooding and plan planting seasons with greater accuracy. The 2026 Department of Agriculture budget has seen a significant increase in "Digital Agriculture" funding—raised to P600 million.President Marcos Jr. has recently called on local government units to stop imposing "pass-through fees" on agricultural shipments, a domestic move aimed at lowering food prices by reducing the logistical costs of moving produce from farm to market.
