Comprehensive Land Use Plans Across The Country.

The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development has announced a major milestone in its PLANADO Program. The government has successfully fast-tracked and approved updated Comprehensive Land Use Plans across the country. The initiative aims to make the country’s land use plans risk-informed. This involves integrating climate and disaster risk assessments directly into local zoning to protect communities from the increasing frequency of typhoons. Under a new department order, Local Government Units are now utilizing digital mapping tools and structured mentoring to ensure that urban expansion does not come at the cost of safety or food security.
