Stricter Discipline for Educators Over Digital Misconduct.
Japan’s education ministry has released a draft revision to national operating guidelines that mandates automatic disciplinary dismissal for teachers involved in voyeurism or the use of personal smartphones to take unauthorized photos of students. The move comes after a high-profile incident where a group of educators was found sharing secretly recorded videos. In addition to stricter penalties, the new policy requires schools to reorganize restrooms and changing areas to make the installation of hidden cameras more difficult. The changes are set to be formally adopted at the start of the new fiscal year in April 2026.
