Shibuya Games Week Transforms Tokyo into a Giant Controller.

Tokyo launched Shibuya Games Week, a first-of-its-kind urban festival that turned the famous Scramble Crossing district into an interactive gaming venue. Using massive outdoor screens and augmented reality (AR) on smartphones, thousands of participants competed in synchronized boss battles against digital monsters appearing over the Shibuya skyline. Alongside the high-tech AR, the event featured Gacha Gacha Night, celebrating the cultural obsession with capsule toys, and pop-up arcades featuring rare 1990s Japanese cabinets. To honor the Lunar New Year, the festival's mascot was a neon-lit robotic horse, which performed AI-choreographed light shows at the base of the Shibuya 109 building every evening.
