PM Takaichi Navigates Alliance.

Following her landslide election victory in February, Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi met with President Trump at the White House on March 19. The summit was marked by high stakes as the U.S. pressured Japan to step up its military involvement in the Strait of Hormuz amid the ongoing conflict with Iran. While Takaichi faces constitutional constraints regarding overseas military action, the two leaders did finalize a $40 billion nuclear reactor deal, with GE Vernova and Hitachi set to build advanced small modular reactors in Alabama and Tennessee.
