One Of Mars’ Two Moons On The Verge oF eXPLORATION.
The Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency is preparing for its most ambitious deep-space mission to date. The Martian Moons eXploration. Scheduled for launch in October, the mission aims to land a probe on Phobos, one of Mars' two moons. If successful, MMX will be the first mission in history to return a sample from the Martian system to Earth. Scientists hope the mission will solve a long-standing mystery. Whether Phobos and Deimos are captured asteroids or debris from a massive impact on Mars. In a world-first, the spacecraft is equipped with cameras developed with NHK to provide the highest-resolution footage ever captured of the Red Planet and its moons.
