National Strategy for Climate Resilience Launched.

The Ministry of Culture has unveiled an ambitious national plan to protect 19 iconic archaeological sites including Delphi, Olympia, and Knossos from the intensifying effects of climate change. The €22 million initiative focuses on immediate transformative adjustments to counter wildfires, extreme heat, and sea-level rise. Experts highlighted that under current projections, sea levels around the island of Delos could rise by 27cm by 2050, necessitating the installation of advanced drainage networks and protective shelters that are being piloted starting today.
