Carpe Digital Movement Africa’s Climate-Tech Pivot.
The intersection of digital infrastructure and climate resilience has become the continent's top economic priority. Leaders at the recent Green Economy Summit in South Africa have moved away from viewing digital and green as separate paths. Investors are shifting from funding single assets to anchor loads using massive data centers and AI hubs in Nigeria and Kenya to stabilize national power grids and draw in renewable energy. Nigeria is set to launch its first dedicated AI data center this year. The goal is to use predictive analytics for climate-smart farming, giving small-scale farmers real-time data on when to plant and harvest to avoid the increasingly erratic flood and drought cycles. With the tech boom comes a waste crisis. New policies are being drafted to transform end-of-life equipment into a formal recycling industry, creating thousands of green-collar jobs in West Africa.
